Our greatest successes can be seen in the lives
that live after us. It’s easy to think that we can
control the outcome of our youth by controlling
their exposure to outside influences. In reality,
if kids want to see or hear something, they’ll find
a way (if they want to). The world is changing and
it is increasingly difficult for parents and
teachers to adapt.
“Kids are just different today than when we were
growing up.” This statement is true in effect, but
the innate desires we had and have today are still
found in today’s youth. They still have a yearning
to be challenged, they want to be respected, and
they want to make a difference. However, fostering
those values can be a challenge with all the
distractions out there in our society. What can we
do to create the desire in their hearts to want
greatness for themselves?
